Doha, Qatar (February 14, 2012) - Wyndham Grand Regency celebrated the first National Sports Day with passion & enthusiasm on February 14, 2012. The hotel organized a Cricket match with refreshments in order to achieve maximum awareness of this game and “National Sports Day” within the local community.
Beside the players and organizing committee’s excitement, good number of spectators witnessed to mark the National Sports Day 2012.
Commenting on this celebration, Ayman Lotfy, the General Manager of the Hotel said, ‘Having a National Sports Day to be celebrated in the entire country is a unique initiative. Wyndham Grand Regency is always keen in participating nationwide activities to support such cause. We decided to participate by organizing a Cricket match to honor this occasion and to support the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The National Sports Day is a part of 2030 National Vision, which seeks to recognize Qatar as a pioneer in sports in the region which motivates the organizations to participate in variety of activities and events designed to entertain and educate their staff about the importance of sports. Lotfy pointed out that sporting events play a vital role in stimulating the results of the hotel sector and economy growth by attracting thousands of visitors each year.
